According to rumors, Antonio Rudiger has signed a pre-contract deal with Real Madrid ahead of his Chelsea contract expiring. Rudiger’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the conclusion of the season.
Rudiger had previously informed Thomas Tuchel that he would not be remaining at the club next season, therefore his departure was expected this summer. Rudiger’s contract expires at the conclusion of the season, and he has previously turned down a new agreement.
Instead, The Athletic reports that he will join Real Madrid on July 1 on a four-year deal earning £164,000 per week. Rudiger’s new deal will also have a whopping £342 million release clause.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding Stamford Bridge, Rudiger is unlikely to be the only player to leave this summer. The team was just purchased by Todd Boehly’s group from Roman Abramovich, but that hasn’t prevented players from seeking elsewhere.
When Andreas Christensen’s contract at Stamford Bridge ends this summer, he is anticipated to follow Rudiger to La Liga and join for Barcelona on a free transfer. Tuchel has begged the Danish centre-back to stay, but he looks to be intent on joining Xavi’s Barcelona revolution at the Nou Camp.
Despite signing a new one-year deal that would keep him at the club until 2023, Cesar Azpilicueta has been linked with a move away. Azpilicueta, who has been at the club for a decade, is said to have reached an agreement with Barcelona ahead of a possible move this year.
Rudiger’s transfer to Real Madrid is expected to be revealed following the Champions League final. On May 28, Madrid will face Liverpool in the competition’s grand finale in Paris.
The German international is said to have already finished his physical and will get a sizable signing-on fee.
