Nelson Semedo, a winger for Wolverhampton Wanderers, has stated that he will miss this weekend’s match against Chelsea as well as the rest of the season due to injury. The Portugal international had just recently returned after missing five Premier League games due to a hamstring injury.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Semedo, who joined Wolves from Barcelona for about £27.5 million in the summer of 2020, has been a regular under Bruno Lage this season. The 28-year-old has made 29 appearances in all competitions, although he was an unused replacement in the 0-0 draw at Molineux against Chelsea in December.
The defender played in Wolves’ last two games, against Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion, after recovering from his hamstring injury, but he has revealed on Instagram that he will miss the rest of the season. Semedo said: “Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in this season. All I have to do now is support the squad in the remaining games and concentrate on my rehabilitation. We’ll see you again next season.”
Semedo is the second Wolves player to be sidelined for the season in the last week. Max Kilman, who has been observed by Chelsea this season and whose brother is in the Blues’ academy, will miss the remaining encounters, it was revealed last Thursday.
“‘Max twisted his ankle and will have difficulty returning,’ said Lage. ‘He will heal, but the season is coming to a close in less than a month.’ We need to figure out what’s wrong, and the physicians are doing an excellent job.”
Wolves will visit Stamford Bridge after winning only three of their previous 10 Premier League games. Lage’s team has dropped to ninth position in the table, while they still have a chance to finish seventh and earn a place in the UEFA Conference League.
Chelsea, on the other hand, needs six points from their final four Premier League games to guarantee a spot in the top four. And a response to Everton’s humiliating setback last weekend is expected against Wolves. Chelsea is dealing with a few of high-profile injuries.
N’Golo Kante missed the match against Everton last weekend due to a slight injury he sustained in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United, while Jorginho was pulled off midway through the defeat at Goodison Park. Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell is set to be out until the start of next season due to an ACL injury.
Chelsea appear to have received a lift from Callum Hudson-Odoi, who uploaded a photo of himself in training on Wednesday. The winger has only played three times since the beginning of February due to achilles and back problems.
