When Ousmane Dembele’s contract with Barcelona ends at the end of June, Chelsea are allegedly interested in signing him on a free transfer. When Todd Boehly’s takeover is completed in the coming days, Thomas Tuchel will begin summer planning.
Dembele’s contract with Barcelona has expired, much to the chagrin of the La Liga club. Despite Barca’s offer, President Joan Laporta has admitted that the Frenchman is ‘tempted’ by other possibilities.
Chelsea is apparently interested in signing Dembele, but they can only do so after the government eliminates the penalties on the club. The group led by American billionaire Boehly expects his buyout to be approved in the coming days.
Dembele’s possible arrival would add to Tuchel’s already impressive offensive arsenal. Express Sport has identified three players that may be interested in signing the 25-year-old.
Hudson-Odoi appeared poised to become the focal point of Chelsea’s offense at one point. He made his first-team debut at the age of 17 and made his England debut the following year.
Under Tuchel, though, the now-21-year-old has battled for playing time. This season, he has only played 966 Premier League minutes, which is slightly under 11 full matches.
Hudson-Odoi has been absent for the better part of two months due to an achilles injury, but it seems improbable that he would have played consistently in the run-up. To jumpstart his profession, the academy graduate might seek a loan or permanent leave.
Ziyech Hakim
In a Chelsea jersey, Ziyech has had a few flashes of brilliance. There was the spectacular goal against Tottenham earlier this season, as well as the FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City last season.
However, the Moroccan has done nothing else to warrant Chelsea’s £40 million cost in 2020. Tuchel’s wealth of offensive quality has frequently obstructed Ziyech’s route to regular football.
Ziyech, 29, might feel that he no longer has a future at Stamford Bridge if Dembele arrives. Chelsea may see the player’s departure as an opportunity to generate finances ahead of a big summer transfer window.
