Marc Cucurella is acting in the best interests of Chelsea supporters at this early stage of his Blues career.
The new left-sided defender agreed to a six-year contract with Thomas Tuchel in a deal for an initial £55 million plus add-ons. With the Spaniard’s versatility in playing as a center-back, fullback, wingback, and even a winger, it gives Chelsea a new method to attack.
Additionally, the transfer gives Malang Sarr, Emerson, and Marcos Alonso the option of leaving the team.
The 24-year-old will be expected to contribute straight away to his new team, much as the £50 million price tag that hovered over Ben Chilwell’s head when he came to Stamford Bridge, going up a level from Brighton, into the Champions League, and coming from a fellow Premier League club.
The former Getafe player, who cites a Blues icon as his motivation for joining the team, is making every effort to make a strong first impression, however. Speaking to the club’s media staff, he declared: “I always choose Chelsea in computer games because I like Drogba!”
Like many Chelsea supporters, it’s simple to support Didier Drogba, who helped the team win its first Champions League trophy and four league championships. He was a fantastic player to utilize in FIFA, receiving a standard 91-rated Ultimate Team card in FIFA 10 before later being added as an Icon for more current updates.
Cucurella could connect himself and Drogba next to one another and make a fantasy come true if he truly wanted to.
