Despite Burnley having reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Maatsen during the summer transfer window, the left-back chose to remain at Chelsea instead. Jacobs expressed surprise at Maatsen’s decision and suggested that a loan move with an obligation to buy could have been a possibility, especially considering the club’s abundance of left-back options. However, it’s worth noting that Maatsen has also been utilized in a more advanced position on occasion.
