Raheem Sterling, a star player for Manchester City, has been connected to Chelsea, and trade is reportedly imminent.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! It is said that Sterling himself is interested in joining Chelsea since his position in Pep Guardiola’s team for the next season is in question due to recent additions to Man City’s attack.
Sterling was acquired by Man City for roughly £49 million from Liverpool before the 2015–16 campaign, but with just one year remaining on his contract, the 27-year-old is seen to be replaceable.
The Englishman won the Premier League four times while playing for City, scoring 131 goals in 339 appearances in all competitions.
The Sterling deal, according to Shay Given, a former Manchester City goalkeeper, might backfire on Pep Guardiola as Chelsea gets closer to completing the player’s signing.
Given still has great regard for Sterling and thinks that he would not be happy with his current situation at the Etihad.
“He’s a good player, but for whatever reason, in the past 12 or 18 months he and Pep, have not fallen out, but he’s simply not started every game,” Given said to talkSPORT.
Sterling is a player who, in my opinion, would not be content to sit on the bench and play a supporting role in the last six to seven months.
Will he return and perhaps bite Pep? What matters from a City perspective is if you believe he will return and score a goal at the conclusion of the season that gives Chelsea the league title.
“He’s a good player, but £50 million is still a lot of money with 12 months remaining. The city must balance the books in order to comply with Financial Fair Play, and they are still working to sign players.
It could be appropriate for both clubs.
