Newcastle United has entered the hunt to sign Chelsea target Ibrahim Sangare.
Chelsea is prepared to face further competition for summer transfer target Ibrahim Sangare, with Newcastle United also joining the battle for the highly-rated PSV Eindhoven midfielder.
Sangare has attracted the attention of Chelsea’s long-time Premier League rivals Manchester United, who are also seeking reinforcements in midfield as part of their squad overhaul which has already seen the likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata being let go following the expiration of their contracts.
The Côte d’Ivoire international has also been linked with Liverpool, although the Reds’ club-record signing of Darwin Nunez is expected to curtail their transfer activity. Newcastle United is the latest team to express interest in the 24-year-old midfielder, who is thought to have a £29.9 million release clause in his PSV contract, according to Football London.

According to Sky Sports, a source close to Sangare has indicated that the Ivorian is focused on a move to England and believes he will play in the Premier League next season. This is a clear sign of the player’s desire to play in a top league and compete for championships.
Sangare has been an integral part of Roger Schmidt’s 4-3-3 at PSV, where he has excelled as a defensive midfielder. Last season, he appeared 49 times in all competitions for the Dutch giants, who won the Dutch cup, advanced to the Europa Conference League quarterfinals, and finished second in the league behind Erik Ten Hag’s Ajax.
Jorginho and N’golo Kante’s futures are still up in the air, with only one year remaining on their present contracts. Since joining Chelsea, Kante has played a key role in the team’s success, assisting the club in winning every trophy possible.
However, in recent years, the Frenchman’s endurance has been called into question. Kante has only started 45 of a potential 76 Premier League games in the previous two seasons. Because Kante is Chelsea’s only available world-class ball-winning midfielder, cover in that area is crucial if the club is to compete on all fronts next season.
As a result, it’s only logical for Thomas Tuchel to hunt for cover in that area, which will also relieve some of Kante’s responsibility. Sangare’s characteristics clearly indicate that he has the ability to not only provide vital backup when Kante is out but also to build a case for a permanent starting XI job if he performs well.
