Because of fitness worries over N’Golo Kante, Ian Wright has instructed Chelsea to begin looking for a replacement. During the 2021/22 season, the 31-year-old was sidelined for 12 games across all competitions due to three separate ailments.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Kante, who has just over a year left on his Chelsea deal, has been linked with a move this summer. If he does not extend his contract, the Blues risk losing the two-time Premier League winner on a free transfer at the conclusion of next season.
Kante’s fitness may be being put to the test now that he is 31 years old. When discussing Todd Boehly moving closer to being announced as the club’s new owner, Wright mentioned that Chelsea might be on the lookout for a successor for the former Leicester City star.
“What will happen with Chelsea during the summer season? Without an owner who used to write off £100 million every year, the company would be in trouble “According to Premier League Productions, Wright remarked.
“Is the new owner capable of doing that? Because that’s how they’ve been able to achieve their goals.” What are the chances of that now? Defenders are required. They will require defenders.
“Kante is starting to suffer from injuries, therefore he’ll have to be replaced. What is the situation with [Romelu] Lukaku?
“What is going on at Chelsea is insane. Deep down, I can’t put my finger on it. But their form has vanished, as seen by their performance in recent games.”
Aurelien Tchouameni may have been a long-term substitute for Kante. The AS Monaco midfielder has been on the Blues’ radar for some time, according to football.london, but a move to Real Madrid appears inevitable this summer.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Kante revealed that he has no idea about his long-term Chelsea future. “The one certainty is that I only have one year left to complete this season. I’ll consider it when the time comes “he added.
Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea’s head coach, recently spoke about Kante in what appeared to be a message to the club’s board to resolve his contract predicament. The Blues’ manager stated: “I believe he [Kante] is our most important player, but vital players must be present on the field.
“If he only appears in 40% of the games, it is a marvel that we are in third place. He’s our Mo Salah, [Virgil] Van Dijk, and [Kevin] De Bruyne together. He is just that player, our Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
“He’s the one who makes the difference, and having him for only 40% of the time is a significant concern. Given that %, it’s a marvel he gets anything done.
“It puts everything into perspective since I witnessed Liverpool struggle last season without Van Dijk. You can notice the distinction. N’Golo is an important player for us, and we need him on the field.”
