De Ligt is reportedly interested in signing with Chelsea, and the Blues are hopeful that a deal can be done.
Chelsea is allegedly stepping up its efforts to sign Matthijs de Ligt before the 2022–23 season.
The report claims that Chelsea will submit a new offer for the Juventus defender in the neighborhood of €70 million. According to rumors, Chelsea is confident that they will be able to complete the transaction in the coming weeks.
Additionally, the Italian website Tuttosport claims that Matthijs de Ligt is keen to grow under Thomas Tuchel since Rudiger has developed into a world-class defender from a supporting player under Frank Lampard.
Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf thinks De Ligt will thrive if he joins the squad and does not see his lack of speed to be an issue.
When asked if he was concerned about Matthijs de Ligt’s pace when he was paired with Thiago Silva at the center of the team’s defense, Leboeuf responded, “It’s a truth.
But they also have other attributes. De Ligt initially struggled while playing for Juventus, but when he joined Ajax, he excelled. He [also] demonstrated last season that he can handle any striker.
“I am certain he can solve any issues with the expertise of Thiago Silva, the assistance of Edouard Mendy, and the presence of N’Golo Kante in front of him.”
