Thomas Tuchel now has a better picture of what Chelsea needs to do in the summer transfer window thanks to Mason Mount. The 23-year-old defined his ideal position when on international duty with England.

Mount made his first of three appearances on the left wing before moving to the center for the following two.
And the Chelsea midfielder believes he is most suited for the No. 10 position. “It allowed me more freedom to wander, try to find openings and attempt to link the midfield to the attacking players,” Mount said after England drew 0-0 with Italy at Molineux on Saturday night. “I found myself in space a couple of times to shoot but I didn’t do good enough.” It was too simple for the goalkeeper; I needed to look for the corners, and it’s a tough one to swallow because I believe we might have won the game with more points, and we’re disappointed with our performance.”
Tuchel is keen to rebuild and bolster Chelsea’s starting XI this summer, and Mount’s admittance coincides with that desire. The Blues have been connected with a number of attackers, including Christopher Nkunku and Ousmane Dembele, with any of them likely to push for the Englishman’s starting spot in the front three if a deal is struck.
Chelsea’s interest in Nkunku was initially revealed by football.london in April, and their attitude has not altered since then. The Blues are interested in the France international, who is valued at roughly £76 million by CIES Football Observatory. However, RB Leipzig and its attacker are presently negotiating a new contract to retain him at the club.
Meanwhile, Dembele’s contract with Barcelona is slated to expire at the end of the month, making him a free agent. According to football.london, the Frenchman’s team has sent out good signs about a transfer to Chelsea this summer.
So, if Todd Boehly accepts Mount’s allegation, Tuchel’s rebuilding efforts this summer may be focused on defenders. Last month, the Blues’ manager told football.london: “We’re rebuilding the team, not enhancing it. We are in the process of rebuilding. This is always a challenge for us, but we are up for it.
“I’m not sure where we’ve been since the beginning. What I can guarantee is that I will be here – if I can promise that – with full vigor and positive energy regardless of what happens. We’ll continue to work for Chelsea, and I’m not going to think about the worst-case situation. On whatever level we will compete, we shall see.”
