According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has set the end of next week as their deadline to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea. Romano mentioned on Twitter that Manchester United is preparing another bid to try and finalize the deal.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The situation surrounding Mount at Chelsea seems to be negative at the moment, with expectations that he will leave the club this summer. Manchester United appears to be the most likely destination, driven by manager Erik ten Hag’s interest in the player.
Chelsea has rejected two bids from Manchester United so far, as they are holding out for a substantial fee despite Mount having only one year left on his contract. Romano states that the interested party has set a target to complete the deal by the end of next week, after which they will explore other options.
Romano also mentions that a bid of £60-65 million would be sufficient to convince Chelsea, with personal terms already agreed upon. Chelsea is now aware that Mount wants to leave the club, and it has been reiterated in recent days that he will not sign a new contract, which means he has the option to leave for free.
Although there were hopes that the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino would change Mount’s decision, it now seems best for both parties to part ways this summer.
