‘You join the wrong club’ John Barnes blast Chelsea new signing
John Barnes, a former player for Liverpool, thinks that Christopher Nkunku’s move to Chelsea may have been a grave error.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! On Saturday, it was widely believed that Chelsea and RB Leipzig had reached an agreement under which the highly regarded forward would transfer to Stamford Bridge for for £63 million the following summer.
Since joining the Bundesliga team in 2019, Nkunku has made 159 appearances and amassed 64 goals and 51 assists, winning him numerous fans across Europe.
He was selected for France’s World Cup team but was forced to withdraw on the final day of the competition after being hurt by teammate Eduardo Camavinga in practise.
The 25-year-old was sought after by Liverpool, Manchester United, and his previous club PSG, but rumours say that Chelsea agreed to pay £10 million more than the player’s release clause in order to secure the deal.
Neither the player nor the club have formally acknowledged the transfer as of the time of writing.
Barnes has erred on the side of caution because he is unsure that the player and club are now the greatest matches, despite the fact that the news of acquiring such a magnificent center-forward should excite Chelsea supporters.
Despite being young, Nkunku has a lot of experience. The former England winger told BonusCodeBets that the Leipzig player is incredibly fast and has been excellent for Leipzig for a long time.
But it’s challenging for young players to join a team like Chelsea because they frequently change managers, which makes them somewhat insecure.
He has a lot of potential, but Chelsea hasn’t been doing well lately, and I would hate to see a young, skilled player join a team that isn’t yet organised.
“If he joins Chelsea, they ought to be patient with him, and I don’t think they are with young players,” a person said.
The Blues have had a challenging season, particularly when Todd Boehly took charge, Thomas Tuchel was fired, and Graham Potter was hired.
While Potter and Boehly continue to iron out issues on and off the field, Chelsea is presently ninth in the Premier League, eight points behind the top four.
Contrary to Roman Abramovich’s revolving door of managers, it appears like Chelsea is striving to develop more of a long-term project, yet they do have a horrible reputation for dumping off young players who go on to become elite athletes.
Romelu Lukaku, Mohamed Salah, and Kevin De Bruyne are just a handful of the stars that were overlooked too quickly at Stamford Bridge.
