“You fail to him” – Joe Cole questions why Chelsea just couldn’t get the best out of 30-year-old
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Joe Cole has raised questions about Chelsea’s inability to make the most of Romelu Lukaku during his tenure at the club. Speaking on TNT Sports, Cole hinted at a deeper issue at Stamford Bridge while observing the 30-year-old’s resurgence at Roma.
Romelu Lukaku has found the back of the net eight times in all competitions for the Serie A side this season. His return to Inter Milan prompted a hostile reaction from the fans due to his absence in the current season.
In contrast, Chelsea is facing a different scenario with missed opportunities in front of goal and a 2-0 defeat to Brentford, which led to resounding boos from the Stamford Bridge crowd at full-time.
After the game, Joe Cole pondered why Lukaku couldn’t replicate his past successes at Chelsea, even though he had excelled at Inter Milan and had a proven track record of scoring goals at clubs like Everton and West Brom.
He stated, “With Romelu Lukaku, for all of his faults, he was in the door. He was a success at Inter Milan, he scored goals at Everton and West Brom in this country, why couldn’t he score goals at Chelsea? What was wrong [with him]?”
Cole’s remarks suggest that there may be underlying issues within the club that go beyond individual player performance. It’s evident that the current sentiment at Chelsea concerning the striker situation is less than positive, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction with Nicolas Jackson’s performance. While pointing fingers at individual players is not the solution, it underscores the need for a closer examination of the team’s challenges.
