Why Chelsea vs Arsenal paused as fans wave for help in a dangerous moment
In the middle of the second half, Chelsea and Arsenal’s game was momentarily put on hold.

The Blues entered the game dealing with a number of ailments. The following players were unable to play due to injuries: N’Golo Kante, Carney Chukwuemeka, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Kalidou Koulibaly. Mateo Kovacic and Kalidou Koulibaly were only fit enough to serve as substitutes on the bench.
Chelsea struggled to escape the Arsenal press as the game got off to a lethargic start. The closest the visitors came in the opening 45 minutes was a close-range header from Gabriel Jesus, which he deflected wide. However, the Gunners did not have it easy.
At least from Chelsea’s perspective, it was believed that the halftime break would give players some time to collect themselves and play better in the second half. That didn’t occur, though, as Arsenal eventually made a breakthrough when Gabriel was able to nudge the ball across the line from inside the six-yard box thanks to terrible marking from a corner.
Chelsea was obligated to reply. It wasn’t visible. A handful of Armando Broja’s excursions forward were especially remarkable, but the Blues failed to create a significant opportunity, allowing Arsenal to leave Stamford Bridge with all three points for the third consecutive season.

Newcastle and Tottenham’s game was postponed for 20 minutes in October of last year while a supporter was stabilised and sent to the hospital.
The Premier League encouraged clubs not to interrupt games unless absolutely essential due to a medical emergency in the stands.
