Sidwell mentioned that Abramovich’s successor, co-owner Behdad Eghbali, has also shown interest in visiting the dressing room after games, though Abramovich used to do the same.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Sidwell highlighted that the significance of these visits depended on the context and purpose. When Abramovich visited, it was usually a brief interaction where he would shake hands and engage with the coach. Sidwell described it as more of a non-verbal communication, often just a “glare.”
He mentioned that Abramovich’s presence after a game, win or lose, was noticeable. However, the visits were generally without extensive verbal communication. In case of a defeat or a poor performance, Abramovich’s demeanor would subtly convey disappointment.
Sidwell reminisced about similar interactions at the training ground, where the team would occasionally have meetings with Abramovich. These meetings were motivational and aimed at reminding the players of the standards expected at Chelsea Football Club.
The ex-midfielder emphasized that Abramovich never interfered with tactical matters or training sessions. His involvement was more about setting the standard and encouraging the team to strive for excellence.
