West Ham now want to buy ‘talented’ 21-year-old Chelsea gem, he’s impressed Pochettino in pre-season
According to the Guardian, West Ham is keen on signing Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. The 21-year-old left-back spent last season on loan at Burnley, impressing with four goals and six assists in 39 Championship appearances as the Clarets earned promotion to the Premier League. Maatsen has caught the eye of Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino during pre-season, but West Ham is now looking to sign the Netherlands Under-21 international as a replacement for Aaron Cresswell, who may be sold to Wolves. Burnley is also interested in re-signing Maatsen. As of now, Chelsea has not made a final decision on Maatsen’s future, and a loan deal could be a possibility given the options available on the left flank with Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, and Lewis Hall. However, keeping Maatsen at Chelsea would provide valuable versatility and depth for the team in the upcoming season.
