Wesley Fofana Bids Farewell as Chelsea Finalizes Another Transfer
The summer transfer window may have closed for most top leagues by August 30, but Chelsea has continued to streamline their squad, confirming another player sale this week.
Despite their efforts, the Blues haven’t offloaded all the players they had hoped to this summer. For instance, The Athletic reports that Chelsea regrets not moving on from Ben Chilwell, who remains on their roster.
Fofana Sends Farewell to Angelo Gabriel
This week, Chelsea announced that Angelo Gabriel, the 19-year-old winger, has completed a permanent transfer to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. Angelo was part of Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States but was later excluded from Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad, similar to several others.
In response to Angelo’s departure, 23-year-old Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana shared a farewell message on his Instagram story, saying, “All the best, enjoy lil bro.”
Chelsea Profits from Brazilian Talent
Angelo Gabriel joined Chelsea from Brazilian club Santos in the summer of 2023. Although he never made his competitive debut for the Blues, the young attacker spent the 2023/24 season on loan with French side Strasbourg, where he recorded four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
Chelsea has now sold Angelo to Al-Nassr for £19.1 million, securing a profit on the £13 million they initially paid for him. While Angelo never saw competitive action in a Chelsea shirt, this sale represents a solid piece of business for the club. Now, Angelo will be joining football legend Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.
