“We hope that it gets better” – On loan Chelsea striker is having issues sporting director explain
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to Union Berlin’s sporting director Oliver Runhert, Chelsea loanee David Datro Fofana has been struggling in his performances due to private issues affecting his personal life since joining the club.
Despite Union Berlin being seen as an ideal club for Fofana’s development, where he even had the opportunity to play Champions League football, he has found it challenging to establish himself and secure a regular starting spot in the team.
Runhert believes that undisclosed personal problems have been affecting Fofana, impacting his performances on the field. He mentioned, “Changing the results is not that easy for a young player, he also had private problems at times, a little something came together. He also lacks a bit of goal to give him self-confidence.”
Fofana is part of the group of young talented players acquired by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital since taking over the club. The Ivory Coast international is known for his pace, dribbling ability, and versatility, having played both as a forward and on the wing for Molde in Norway.
It is hoped that whatever challenges Fofana is facing in his personal life are resolved, as Chelsea is counting on his performances for financial and squad planning reasons in the future.
