‘We have £200m player in Arsenal ranks who Only Lionel Messi can compare with him’ Says Mikel Arteta
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka is now bearing a staggering £200 million valuation and has drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi following his spectacular goal in the Gunners’ season opener against Nottingham Forest.
Despite being just 21 years old, the Arsenal academy product is widely recognized as one of the Premier League’s finest players. The sentiment is that Saka’s potential knows no bounds. In the game against Forest, he initiated his season with a remarkable left-footed shot from outside the box, a strike that former teammate Matt Turner futilely attempted to save.
Anticipation runs high among Arsenal supporters that Saka might lead the team to title glory this season, following their second-place finish in the previous campaign. While his contract extension remains a pivotal move, some believe that if Saka were to ever depart, he could command a substantial fee.
When questioned about Saka’s current market value, Johan Djourou, speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes Fanzone, stated, “Players like Saka are absolutely crucial to Arsenal’s lineup; frequently, he’s the one who makes a difference. Considering the amount of money spent on players in this transfer window, if a club like Manchester City were to show interest in Saka this summer, I believe they might need to go as high as £200 million.”
Djourou added, “I would peg it at £200 million because, in today’s context, understanding player valuation is complex, especially for English players, who tend to attract premium prices. Pinpointing his exact worth is challenging.”
These commendations are not unique; other voices have also praised Saka’s impact on the Arsenal squad. Joe Cole, a former Chelsea star and three-time Premier League champion, spoke highly of Saka and likened his prowess to that of a footballing legend. Cole remarked to TNT Sports, “Apart from maybe the iconic figure who’s gradually declining, Lionel Messi, there’s hardly anyone else in global football with a left foot as exceptional as Saka’s from that position.”
Saka accomplished a rare feat last season as he was one of the few Premier League players to achieve double-digit goals and assists. In the eyes of many, he remains the face of Arsenal, the driving force for the team, even with the arrival of the £105 million acquisition, Declan Rice, in the summer transfer window.
