According to reports, Barcelona is still optimistic that they may recruit Cesar Azpilicueta, the captain of Chelsea, this summer.

After ten years with the team and every title available to him, the 32-year-old is the player with the longest tenure in the team.
He was, however, widely anticipated to depart the team this summer as part of Thomas Tuchel’s total defensive rebuild, which has already seen Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen go.
Despite their aspirations, they haven’t been able to make the necessary acquisitions due to a lack of activity in the transfer market, and they currently don’t appear to have enough choices at the back.
The Athletic reports that the club has the right to determine where Azpilicueta will play football the next season, which might result in them maintaining hold of him.
Azpilicueta Tuchel, who Barcelona was certain would sign, was particularly upset about the circumstances that prevented him from having Kounde available to him for the upcoming season. Barcelona continued to show that they were a market thorn in the club’s side.
He apparently was hesitant to sell the Spaniard as a result of this and the fact that the current roster doesn’t have many players with his level of expertise.
Azpilicueta still shows to be a strong choice for the right of a back three, providing the essential defensive support for the roving Reece James, despite the fact that his offensive performance has unquestionably been worse over the previous few seasons.
He is the ideal mentor for some of the team’s younger defenders because of his experience at the top of the game.
Supporters will be hoping that Thiago Silva’s effect on Levi Colwill, who now appears certain to stay with the club moving into this season, can be comparable to Trevoh Chalobah’s past season.
