What happened to Chelsea star while he took free-kick v Arsenal
Arsenal ended their four-game winless run in the Premier League with an impressive 3-1 victory over their London rivals, Chelsea, at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners’ recent results had been underwhelming, with draws against Liverpool, West Ham United, and Southampton before suffering a 4-1 thrashing by Manchester City.
The defeat by City meant that the race for the Premier League title was almost over, with Pep Guardiola’s side in pole position. Therefore, it was crucial for Mikel Arteta’s team to bounce back against Chelsea and regain their confidence, and they did just that with a stylish display on home soil.
Arsenal managed to inflict Frank Lampard’s sixth loss in a row in his return to manage Chelsea, with all three goals being scored in a first-half blitz. Captain Martin Odegaard scored two marvelous left-footed goals, while Gabriel Jesus netted the third.
Although Chelsea showed some signs of a fightback in the second half, with Noni Madueke reducing the deficit, it was too little too late. January arrival Mykhailo Mudryk impressed after coming on as a sub, but the young winger was subjected to boos from the Arsenal fans due to the transfer saga in the January window.
Moreover, Mudryk had to deal with a laser pen being shone in his face by someone in the crowd – presumably an Arsenal fan – during a free-kick. This is unacceptable, and Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mudryk’s international colleague who was on the Arsenal bench, was not pleased with the incident.
While it is expected for Mudryk to receive a hostile reception from Arsenal fans, laser pens should never be used in this manner. Hopefully, this will not happen again in the future, and Mudryk can focus on his game without any distractions.
