Fofana only signed for Chelsea during the summer transfer window as a long-term replacement to Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
Losing him so early in the season would be devastating, but he has been seen walking across Stamford Bridge using crutches.

Wesley Fofana’s injured knee, which he suffered during Chelsea’s Champions League victory against AC Milan, is anticipated to keep him out for four to six weeks.
The French defender broke the scoring at Stamford Bridge with his first goal for his new team after moving to the Blues from Leicester this summer in a £70 million move.
After Ciprian Tatarusanu stopped Thiago Silva’s header from a corner, there was a scramble in the area, and on minute 24, Fofana tucked away the loose ball from close range.
However, Fofana’s happiness was short-lived as he hobbled away with what seemed to be a knee injury just 14 minutes later.
It happened under very innocent circumstances when Fofana stumbled after a reasonable challenge from Milan player Rafael Leao.
Fofana sobbed as he left the field after being properly replaced by Trevoh Chalobah.
Graham Potter, the manager, acknowledged that the Blues’ crucial victory—which also saw goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reece James—had just one drawback: the injury to Fofana.
And the Chelsea manager acknowledged his worry when questioned about the blow following the game.
We don’t yet know [the entire scope], according to Potter. The only disappointing aspect of the evening was that. We must scan tomorrow, so please be patient.
I don’t want to guess right now, but we need to wait till tomorrow, get it scanned, and hope for the best.
He’s a young, powerful man; we’ll support him. These things happen. We’re hoping for the best, but like I mentioned, there isn’t much to say at the time.
Fofana’s injury is reportedly not as serious as initially thought, according to Sky Sports.
According to the article, he injured his knee, which will keep him out of action for four to six weeks.
