Frank Lampard, the 43-year-old Chelsea veteran, was named Everton manager in January, and one of his first moves was to bring a Chelsea coach with him to Goodison Park.
Joe Edwards, a former Chelsea first-team coach, has joined Lampard as an assistant manager at Everton, bringing an end to a remarkable 27-year association with Chelsea.
During Lampard’s time as manager of the Blues, Joe Edwards worked alongside him.
After his playing career did not pan out, the 35-year-old joined Chelsea as a schoolboy player and worked his way up through the coaching levels.
Tuchel joked about Joe joining Everton and said he’d love to have lunch with the former Chelsea boss.
“I was overjoyed when he sent me this gentlemanly note. We didn’t get to go out for lunch, and then he got the chance to take over at Everton and he took Joe Edwards [assistant coach] away from us, so we weren’t very happy about that!” Tuchel said.
“Of course, we were involved, so we’ll see Ashley Cole, Joey, and Frank on the other side,” she says. I’ve never seen him in person, so I’m looking forward to seeing him, but we’ll be arriving with our squad, and we need the points immediately, just as they do.”
