Todd Boehly has already been advised by the proper person why Luis Campos is the best candidate to succeed Marina Granovskaia as Chelsea’s new Sporting Director.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Todd Boehly’s Blues have concluded their first £250 million transfer window. They have just completed a new managerial search, with Graham Potter being appointed for this new long-term project and vision, following Thomas Tuchel’s downfall following the most recent Dinamo Zagreb setback. The worsening relationship between the likes of Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, and Jose Feliciano with the Champions League winning manager, which began to come to a head on the US pre-season tour, led to the German swinging the hatchet, football london knows.
Chelsea fans have been forced to shift very swiftly from Tuchel to this new beginning. And, despite Potter’s energetic character and the kind of football he offers, as well as his established track record of working with and developing players, off-the-field things must first improve in order to give the stability required post-Roman Abramovich.
Since Abramovich was kicked out of the club by the UK government for alleged ties to Vladimir Putin, which he firmly denies, a number of important players in football operations have resigned. Granovskaia was joined by Bruce Buck, Guy Lawerence, Petr Cech, and, most recently, head of international scouting Scott MacLachlan in making their way out of Stamford Bridge.
As a result, Boehly has had to put in a lot of effort to create a new framework that can sustain Potter. The first objective now that the transfer window has closed is to find a new Sporting director.
Amid ties to Michael Edwards, Paul Mitchell, and Andrea Berta, The Times reports that a fresh name has joined the battle in the form of advisor Luis Campos, who has only been at PSG for a few months following the shake-up that saw Mauricio Pochettino and Leonardo sacked.
Campos has a strong name in the game thanks to his Kylian Mbappe links, and his real drive’ to lead a club to the top and maintain them there has been hailed by Pochettino’s replacement.
“This is the finest idea you’ve ever had” [laughs]. That is not correct. I told him: incredible, I’m in “Christophe Galtier stated earlier this season, in answer to Campos’ request to manage the Parisians, through getting French Football News (GFFN).
“There was not a single second of hesitation. I made him repeat himself to ensure that he was speaking about PSG. Especially considering he was just talking about a large project at the outset. I found out about Luis Campos joining PSG just before the end of the season when Nice needed a win to finish fifth at best. “So that’s the project,” I told myself at the time.
On his connection with Campos, he added: “When I was at Saint-Étienne, I heard that Lus had one eye on me and the other on Leo Jardim for the Monaco project. When I decided to leave Saint-Étienne after eight years, I kept a close eye on his arrival in Lille. I even remember reaching out to Lus to meet him and express my genuine wish to collaborate with him. Would I still be in Paris if Lus wasn’t here? No, I don’t believe so. We’ve come to know each other and work together in… [mimes a rollercoaster] – almost like a relationship. Lus and I complement each other, and when one of us enters the other’s area of competence, it is with great respect.”
