Todd Boehly finally explains why he can’t spend like Roman Abramovich.
Despite the fact that Liverpool and Manchester City have already spent substantial sums on new attackers, Chelsea is yet to recruit a player this summer.
Chelsea’s new owner, Todd Boehly, has emphasized that he will be cautious with the club’s finances.
Due to the risk of being sanctioned if UEFA’s financial fair play standards are breached, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has declared that he will not spend as much as the club did under Roman Abramovich.
“Financial fair play is starting to receive some teeth,” Boehly said at the SuperReturn International conference in Berlin, “and that will limit the capacity to recruit players at any price.”
UEFA takes it very seriously and will continue to do so. [More teeth] entails monetary penalties as well as exclusion from athletic events.”
Shaun Wright-Phillips, a former Chelsea winger, has advised the Blues to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.
Chelsea should sign Lewandowski as a replacement for Wright-Phillips since he would always guarantee goals.
Last season, Romelu Lukaku, who cost £97.5 million, struggled to score goals, scoring only 15 times in all competitions.
“No matter what side Robert Lewandowski plays for, he always finds a way to score a goal,” Wright-Phillips told Genting Casino. “He’d be the perfect substitute for Romelu Lukaku, but Chelsea would still need to play to his strengths to make it work.”
