According to reports, Chelsea may need to sell up to three attackers in order to pay RB Leipzig for Christopher Nkunku.
The Blues may think about offloading Christian Pulisic, Armando Broja, and Hakim Ziyech to raise money for the Frenchman they are close to signing for next season, according to The Telegraph.
After attempting to recruit Nkunku earlier in the signing period, reports surfaced last week claiming that Chelsea had conducted a physical for him during the summer.
The attacker then agreed to a new contract with the Bundesliga club after they were unable to come to an agreement.
However, that agreement had a release provision that was undoubtedly reachable for a team like Chelsea, who reportedly spent more to secure the deal than the release clause in order to fend off other offers.
Chelsea will sell first before purchasing Nkunku
However, according to The Telegraph, they will need to sell in order to purchase again if they want to keep spending as much as they did during the last window.
In recent months, Pulisic and Ziyech have both been strongly linked to both long-term and short-term exits from the team due to the former manager Thomas Tuchel’s opinion that they were unnecessary.
Both players will be looking forward to fresh starts under Graham Potter, with Pulisic especially having been instrumental in Chelsea’s victory over the weekend.
Broja, on the other hand, would be a significant loss for the Blues as he is apparently pressing for a start as a result of his strong performances in practice and as a sub.
He almost departed the team this summer when numerous Premier League teams were interested in a move and Chelsea had the chance to profit.
To the satisfaction of Blues supporters, he decided to stay with the team instead of being used as a makeweight in any future trades.
