Rudiger had Agree to a new Chelsea deal in 2020, but Marina called it off due to one major reason

Antonio Rudiger is poised to depart Chelsea for Real Madrid this summer, as we all know. His contract with the Blues is up for renewal, and negotiations about extending it have come to a halt.

Rudiger reportedly’verbally agreed’ to a one-year extension at the start of the 2020/21 season, according to Goal. With his contract now continuing until 2022, it would have maintained his income at £100,000-per-week. Toni was Chelsea’s fifth-choice centre-back at the time of the offer.

When Rudiger requested a’small signing-on bonus,’ Marina Granovskaia suddenly terminated the arrangement.

Chelsea re-started discussions in August 2021 when Rudiger became a prominent player under Thomas Tuchel. They promised him a weekly salary of £140,000. The offer was deemed insufficient by the players’ camp.

The Blues gave him an attractive offer at first, but it was too late, partially owing to the club’s penalties and partly due to his discussions with Real Madrid.
