According to reports, Lukaku arrived in Italy to conduct a physical, sign contracts, and officially announce the transfer from Chelsea. He reportedly couldn’t contain his excitement over leaving Chelsea this summer.
With the Nerazzurri, he is about to sign a season-long loan agreement that would keep him at the San Siro until June 2023. The striker also said, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, “I’m incredibly thrilled to be here.”
According to reports, Inter would pay the whole international player’s wage, while Chelsea has been promised an up-front loan fee of €8 million (£6.9 million) plus add-ons.
Football.london has learned that Lukaku, who is eager to leave the Blues and moved from Milan to London less than a year ago, approached his attorney early this season to look into the prospect of a return to the San Siro. And Todd Boehly has fulfilled the Belgian’s dream.
Football.london is also aware that the striker planned to speak with Boehly and other administrators before making a choice. Whether or not these discussions took place doesn’t appear to have made much of a difference to the striker, who apparently doesn’t want to work with his current manager Thomas Tuchel “anymore,” according to the most recent Italian sources via Sport Witness.
“He may not have intended to speak with me if he intended to speak with the owner, in my opinion. It’s acceptable. See whether he gets a meeting! His right to do so. We will speak with anybody, “Ahead of the FA Cup final, Tuchel said to the striker. “Any incident involving any player, including Romelu, will be assessed. We’ll wait and see what transpires and what is planned.”
After moving back to west London, Lukaku found it difficult to adjust to the Premier League, even though he scored 15 goals in 44 games the previous season. Although his lack of luck in front of goal has raised questions about his future, he has apparently managed to garner the attention of many top-flight European teams in advance of the summer window.
