Kai Havertz of Chelsea was left out of the FA Cup final squad.
The Blues manager went with Romelu Lukaku, who lasted 85 minutes before being replaced by Hakim Ziyech.
Tuchel explained that Kai Havertz felt his hamstring before the game, which was the cause for his absence.
“Kai, we tried till the very last minute,” Thomas Tuchel said ITV before of kick-off. He experienced hamstring issues this morning, but nothing serious.
“However, he believes that if he plays, he would sustain a major injury, so if he says this in front of a final, you know it’s serious enough not to start.” You can’t take the risk because he puts in a lot of sprints.”
Tuchel responded, “Of certainly, the final is about rhythm and form,” when asked if he chose the side with form in mind.
