Report: PL club have now submitted bid for ‘fastest’ £43m player wanted by Chelsea
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Newcastle United has made a bid to sign AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, according to The Athletic.
The report states that Newcastle has submitted an offer to Milan in the region of €50 million (£43 million) for the 23-year-old Tonali.
Last week, The Athletic revealed that Chelsea has been monitoring the talented midfielder, and 90min reported last month that Chelsea scouts were present at a Milan game to observe Tonali, along with his teammate Rafael Leao.
Tonali is a versatile defensive midfielder with a growing reputation, which has attracted interest from clubs in England. He recorded 10 assists across all competitions last season for Milan and is highly regarded for his aggressive style of play, tackling ability, and work rate off the ball.
Former Italy international Federico Balzaretti described Tonali as an “incredible player” a few years ago, highlighting his qualities as a quality central midfielder.
While the idea of Tonali donning the Chelsea colors is appealing, it appears that Newcastle is leading the pursuit for his signature in this summer’s transfer window.
