Thierry Henry and Raheem Sterling had opposing views on a pivotal Graham Potter judgment made during Chelsea’s Champions League tie against RB Salzburg.

“They sacrificed everything they had. We only have one point, and we’re upset, but I was quite happy with how they acted today “He stated. “It hasn’t been easy for them, either, with the change of coach and everything it entails, but their response has been outstanding. They’ve acted really professionally, honestly, and responsibly.” So, in terms of effort, it was 100 percent there. Getting there often was a valuable quality against a competent opponent. We must give them credit for how they defended and created opportunities to attack us. But we managed it really effective for much of the game, and as I mentioned, their goalkeeper made some wonderful stops, and we just missed that little bit to grab the second goal.”
Sterling found his place to score the game’s opening goal just after halftime. In this new setup, Chelsea’s No.17 played as a winger/wing-back and was hooked in the 84th minute as Chelsea sought a late winner.
It was a moment highlighted by Arsenal legend Henry in his post-match review as one of Potter’s blunders on the night. “We all observed [Sterling’s response to being replaced],” Henry told CBS Sports, as reported by the Daily Mail. “I’m not sure why he removed Sterling. He scored, and you never know when he’ll score again.
“It’ll be fascinating to watch how [Graham Potter] handles it tomorrow morning since [Raheem Sterling] didn’t appear to be happy.”
Sterling did not comment on the substitute choice in his post-match interview, but he did state he was satisfied with the new role Potter assigned to him on the night, implying there was no issue with the decision taken in the 84th minute.
“In the end, it’s a horrible outcome, but I think we played some fantastic football at moments,” he told BT Sport. “I’m in a little different capacity here with the management, which I like.”
