Thomas Tuchel has given N’Golo Kante a message on his future, and Paris Saint-Germain is keeping an eye on the midfielder’s contract situation at Chelsea.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The 31-year-old has already sustained his fourth injury while playing for Chelsea, and Tuchel has already said that he will be out for at least four weeks to begin the season.
Kante’s contract at Stamford Bridge has one year left, therefore Tuchel was eager to settle it this summer.
Kante hasn’t signed a contract extension or been informed he may leave Chelsea, despite the new owners at Stamford Bridge making their mark four weeks into the current Premier League season.
PSG, the current French champions, are reportedly keeping an eye on the midfielder’s position.
The Ligue 1 champions are keeping an eye on Kante’s contract status after Tuchel cast doubt on his long-term future, according to Tom Roddy of The Times.
The 31-year-old is now free to start negotiations with other teams in January in preparation for a free move in the summer.
Chelsea was in a similar predicament in January when Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, who both left in the summer, were still playing.
Given that Chelsea has failed to extend Kante’s contract, PSG may try to make a bid if the midfielder becomes available on the open market.
This comes after Tuchel said last week that the team must consider Kante’s history of injuries before extending him a new idea.
He stated: “Not at all (disregard the injury record).
“You must take into account all that is put on the table, including his impact, potential, and qualities.
“But his age, his income, and his injury rate are obviously on the table. No doubt. You create a larger picture and attempt to discover a solution from there.
Kante has previously been connected to a summer transfer to Manchester United, but such rumours seemed to be unfounded.
However, Kante leaving Chelsea might become a possibility as Tuchel attempts to rebuild his Chelsea team.
The 31-year-future old’s employment once his contract ends is uncertain.
Chelsea will first concentrate on bringing Kante back to 100% in order to compete this season.
