Poch makes six changes to Chelsea predicted line-up vs Brighton
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Chelsea is in desperate need of a victory as they prepare to face Brighton in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge. The absence of European football this season intensifies the desire among Chelsea supporters for success in the domestic cup competitions.
With just one win in their initial six Premier League games, Mauricio Pochettino’s team may face an underdog status against Brighton on Wednesday.
The Chelsea Chronicle has predicted Pochettino’s lineup for the cup clash, foreseeing six alterations from the side that suffered defeat against Aston Villa.
Goalkeeper and Defense:
- Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, 23, is anticipated to make his Chelsea debut in the midweek game, potentially displacing the newly established first-choice keeper Robert Sanchez.
- Due to Malo Gusto’s suspension after his red card, Axel Disasi shifts to the right-back position. Thiago Silva is expected to be rested.
- Levi Colwill is likely to start in his preferred center-back role, with 19-year-old Alfie Gilchrist partnering him for a senior debut.
- Marc Cucurella, the £60 million player (according to Sky Sports), is expected to return to the starting lineup as the left-back.
Midfield:
- Lesley Ugochukwu, who has impressed in his appearances this season, might replace Moises Caicedo as the defensive midfielder.
- Conor Gallagher, the stand-in captain, is expected to continue his streak of starting in every game since Pochettino’s appointment.
Attack:
- Raheem Sterling is set to start again and Chelsea will look to him to increase his goal tally of two for the campaign.
- A potential change on the left wing could see Ben Chilwell taking the position from Mykhailo Mudryk. Despite not being an ideal move in any game, Pochettino is likely to adopt a pragmatic approach against a strong Brighton team.
- Cole Palmer may get his first start, potentially replacing Enzo Fernandez in the No. 10 position. Fernandez could move to the bench.
- Nicolas Jackson is anticipated to lead the line for Chelsea. However, it’s important to note that he won’t be available for the Premier League fixture against Fulham due to suspension.
