Pierre-Emerick When Chelsea hosts AC Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night, Aubameyang will be up against familiar foes.
The Aubameyang family and AC Milan have a unique bond. It is the organization where father Pierre Francois, a scout who helped Gabon win 80 caps, worked. the squad for which Catilina, the oldest son, and Wily, the second child, both played on the first team. Pierre-Emerick, the club’s youngest son, joined in 2007.
Pierre-Emerick did not make the senior side at San Siro as his older siblings did. Given his natural talent and propensity to score goals, it seems a bit odd. However, a brief glance at the Rossoneri attack during the 2007–08 season makes it clear why.
Alberto Gilardino, Kaka, Filippo Inzaghi, and Alexandre Pato were also there. Additionally, there was Ronaldo. In Europe, the Brazilian icon, one of the greatest players of all time, was nearing the end of his playing days and cut a much different figure than when he was at his best, both physically and figuratively. However, he nonetheless left an enduring effect on the young Aubameyang.
Aubameyang, who will play for Chelsea against Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night, says, “To be honest, he was a bit chubby by then but he was still the greatest.”
“I will never forget how Carlo Ancelotti criticized him for being unfit. What do you want me to do, run or score goals? he inquired. Score goals, Ancelotti said in response. Ronaldo scored two goals in the subsequent game! As a striker, you must have that confidence because you must have a great mental game. That is part of the character. I was simply a small child playing and practicing amid all those famous people. I was only attempting to get as much as I could for my job. The team had a lot of strength at that point. Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini, and Ronaldo. I decided to take a short-term loan because I was so young.
Aubameyang visited Dijon, Lille, and Monaco thanks to the loans. In 2011, he made a permanent transfer to Saint-Etienne, and two years later, he was at Borussia Dortmund. The attacker made a name for himself as one of the finest in European football while playing for the Bundesliga team.
Under Thomas Tuchel, who no longer serves as head coach at Stamford Bridge but was instrumental in Aubameyang’s summer transfer to Chelsea, goals were scored and a trophy was won. Graham Potter is in that position, and it is his duty to lead the Blues over their Champions League group.
Chelsea now finds itself in a precarious situation in Group E after losing to Dinamo Zagreb and drawing with Red Bull Salzburg at home. The two-game series versus Milan has therefore gained in significance. On Wednesday night, the Serie A winners will come to Stamford Bridge, and Aubameyang is anticipated to start after scoring his first Chelsea goal in the victory against Crystal Palace.
The 33-year-old found it difficult to get these prominent matches. During his tenure at the Emirates, Arsenal missed out on the Champions League, and during his eighth month at Barcelona, the La Liga powerhouses competed in the Europa League rather than at the highest level of the European game.
Aubameyang said, “I have them [Champions League matches] back again so I have to demonstrate what I am capable of.” Being a striker, all you want to do is score your first goal as quickly as possible, therefore I’m overjoyed that it did.
