Manchester United is making waves in the transfer market, eyeing a surprise move for a €65 million star currently playing for Chelsea, who is also on Pep Guardiola’s radar.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! In a thrilling comeback, Manchester United had to overturn a two-goal deficit against Nottingham Forest to secure their second win of the new Premier League season. Manager Erik ten Hag faced the challenge of several injury-enforced changes, with Christian Eriksen stepping into midfield in place of Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot taking up the left-back role in the absence of Luke Shaw.
Dalot, primarily a right full-back, handled the position admirably, drawing on his experience from occasional outings there last season and during his loan spell with AC Milan.
The Red Devils currently find themselves without a specialist left-back, with Tyrell Malacia sidelined since pre-season and Brandon Williams on loan at Championship side Ipswich Town. Young academy graduate Alvaro Fernandez, while on the bench against Forest, is still considered relatively raw and was close to securing a loan move to La Liga’s Granada CF.
To address this gap, Manchester United had reportedly reached out to the representatives of former Chelsea star Ryan Bertrand, who is currently a free agent.
However, in a new twist, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has added Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella to the list of potential options. Given United’s budget constraints, they are exploring loan possibilities with Chelsea, although no formal bid or concrete talks have occurred yet.
Romano stated, “Manchester United made contact with Chelsea to ask about conditions of Marc Cucurella deal on potential loan — no bid or concrete talks yet. United looking for LB opportunity but not too expensive — there are three candidates in the list. No decision made yet.”
Cucurella, who showcased his talents during his time with Brighton, has yet to reach his peak form since his €65 million move to Chelsea. Interestingly, Pep Guardiola of Manchester City was also interested in the Spanish defender, but Chelsea secured his signature.
As Manchester United faces defensive and offensive challenges, the choice of which player to bring in before the deadline day will be a pivotal decision for the club. Stay tuned for further developments in this intriguing transfer saga.
