After Chelsea’s humiliating 4-0 loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup third-round match, Pep Guardiola was questioned about Graham Potter’s future.

Riyad Mahrez scored twice, Julian Alvarez scored once, and Phil Foden scored once to guarantee City’s spot in the FA Cup’s fourth round. At the Etihad Stadium, Chelsea’s performance that day was poor, which prompted some chants from the opposing end about former head coach and owner Thomas Tuchel and Roman Abramovich, respectively.
Although Potter is under pressure, his opponent Guardiola thinks he needs more time in the position. Other than the time he was at Barcelona and had the honour of working with the great Lionel Messi, he mentioned how every manager needs more than one season.
The City manager told Todd Boehly, “I would say that it was a pleasure to meet him, so give him time.” “Results certainly matter in the big clubs, but I would still urge you to give him some time.
“So I believe he is what he is in the second half. His work in Brighton was exceptional. He is correct that all managers require time.” At all times, we require time. Because I had Messi in Barcelona, there was a reason I only needed one season there. For Graham, Chelsea, or any other team, playing against City when we are at this level in the Carabao Cup or here is not an easy task.”
Chelsea currently sits in the middle of the Premier League standings and is eliminated from both domestic cup competitions. Their sixth defeat in nine games across all competitions came at the Etihad Stadium.
After the game, Potter acknowledged that his Chelsea team is “suffering” at the moment. However, he will continue to work with his team in an effort to find the best answer to the many issues he is currently dealing with.
Potter said, “The results in a short period of time aren’t positive.” “You can give reasons why something isn’t good enough or you can find excuses for it, and both of those responses are valid. We are suffering, and although it is unpleasant, it is the reality of our current situation.”
