The offensive player has maintained the strong start he had with Mark Robinson’s team at Cobham.
Chelsea’s attacking phases of play in yesterday night’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United were frequently very basic and never once appeared to be headed for a goal. In the upcoming months, Graham Potter will have the challenging task of locating the final piece of his attacking jigsaw.
Omari Hutchinson is one player who is thriving in Premier League 2 for Mark Robinson’s Under-21s after spending more than £50 million on juveniles during the summer. After joining the Blues from Arsenal and turning in a string of excellent performances, the highly regarded forward has established a strong following among the team’s supporters.
The uncertainty of the path to Mikel Arteta’s team led Hutchinson, who is widely considered as one of the greatest players in the country for his age group, to go to West London. A spot in the first team, though, might not be that far away at Stamford Bridge.
Due to his size, dribbling technique, and skill, the 18-year-old has been compared to Eden Hazard. This weekend, the youthful Blues easily defeated Blackburn Rovers 3-0. After making a scary run after helping Mason Burstow score the opening goal, Hutchinson scored his fifth goal of the season from the penalty spot.
Hutchinson has had a productive week in his growth after putting up a strong performance against League Two team Leyton Orient in the EFL Trophy, where he scored and provided assists for two more goals. But when will Potter give the young talent his big break?
Well, after Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s underwhelming displays against United last night, supporters’ desire to see the teenager play for the first team has risen. And given his recent inspirational performances, Potter will probably be keeping an eye on the situation during the World Cup break next month.
Robinson has been quite complimentary of the youngster after he started the season strong. “Omari has been great,” he said. There is a lot of pressure on you as a young player when you decide to shift clubs.
“When he first arrived, he probably felt that pressure and the high expectations that came with him leaving Arsenal for Chelsea. I believe there was pressure on him throughout his early performances. But as time has passed, you can notice him unwinding more and more, and he is truly beginning to demonstrate the player he will become.
“I am quite happy with him. For us as a club, it simply involves assisting him in overcoming that pressure and expectation when things aren’t quite working out for him. I believe we accomplished that, and he will concur that we did so successfully. We can now see what a gifted young man he is.
We get along well, pretty well. We converse often. He is only concerned with his destination and the means of transportation. He has a very modest demeanor. He’s a pleasure to work with.
