Mikel Obi Criticizes Enzo Maresca After Chelsea’s 3-0 Defeat to Brighton
Chelsea’s Struggles Continue With Another Heavy Defeat
Chelsea suffered yet another humiliating 3-0 loss to Brighton, marking back-to-back defeats against the Seagulls. The Blues’ hopes of securing a top-four finish are now in serious jeopardy after what has been their worst defeat of the season.
Mikel Obi Warns Maresca Could Be Sacked
Former Chelsea star Mikel Obi has voiced his concerns over Enzo Maresca’s leadership, warning that the manager could soon face the sack if performances do not improve.
“I really don’t understand what Enzo Maresca thinks or tells those players before they step onto the pitch. This is absolutely shambolic. The players look weak, and individually, they are not ready to play for the club.”
Lack of Passion and Commitment
Mikel Obi criticized the Chelsea squad for their lack of passion and failure to fight for a Champions League spot.
“There is no passion for playing for the club or even showing why they deserve to bring Chelsea back to the Champions League. If Maresca can’t handle this team, he should step down.”
Questionable Mentality From the Manager
The former midfielder also pointed to Maresca’s recent comments after Chelsea’s FA Cup exit as proof of poor leadership.
“His comments after the FA Cup defeat say it all. Giving your opponents an advantage by admitting that Chelsea is not ready for trophies or a top-four finish is unacceptable for a top manager.”
Call for Urgent Change
Mikel emphasized the need for Maresca to shift his mindset and inspire his players to fight for the badge.
“He needs to change his mentality and bring these players back to life. They need to play with their hearts for the club. Right now, we are losing it.”
