Although the 28-year-old has been used frequently by both managers this season, Graham Potter has acknowledged that he has not been truly fit since the start of the campaign.
At the World Cup with Croatia, he is starting to show signs of regaining his previous level of fitness.
The 2018 finalists won their first match of the competition yesterday against Canada thanks to a commanding display in the middle of the field, giving them a strong chance to advance from their group at Belgium’s expense.
Given how crucial the midfielder was to the team last season, Chelsea supporters will be hoping this is a sign that he will return to form frequently.
Undecided about Kovacic’s future

There may be worries that the first-team exodus from Stamford Bridge is imminent given rumors that they are also having trouble locking down Mason Mount to a new long-term contract.
