A new twist on Chelsea owner: After a late £4 billion bid from a British billionaire
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!new twist! After a late £4 billion proposal from a British billionaire, the Raine Group is due to make a new choice on a new Chelsea owner.
After Raine Group apparently received another high proposal from a British billionaire, the takeover of the new Chelsea owner goes another step forward.
According to sources, Sir Jim Ratcliffe delivered his Chelsea proposal directly to the club, which means Raine Group was uninformed of his bid specifics just hours after naming Todd Boehly’s group as their preferred bidder.
It comes after Raine Group designated Boehly’s group as their favored alternative to succeed Roman Abramovich at Chelsea.
According to Sky, they have been allowed several days to enter an exclusivity period, which will allow them to make greater progress in their effort to acquire the keys at Stamford Bridge.
But, as per the Athletic, his bid went direct to Chelsea, not Raine as they were unaware of the details of his bid.
This led to the merchant bank naming Boehly’s party as the preferred bidder for Chelsea as they did not know the details of Monaco-based Ratcliffe’s proposal.
The report continues to reveal that Ratcliffe only decided to enter the fray this week but has moved quickly to get himself in a position to make what he believes is the most compelling offer. The billionaire has spoken to the British government, which has a veto over the sale of Chelsea.
Ratcliffe has been in London this week to discuss details with his bankers but has not been able to meet with fan groups, as Boehly’s team has done with months to prepare for the purchase.
