Many Chelsea staff are big fans of 21-year-old youngster, he’s only ever played once
According to a report from The Athletic, young Chelsea player Ian Maatsen has garnered a lot of admiration and support among the club’s staff. The 21-year-old left-back had a successful loan spell at Burnley during their Championship title-winning season, impressing with his attacking capabilities. Several clubs, including Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Wolfsburg, and Benfica, have shown interest in signing him, but Burnley is seen as the favorite to re-sign him for around £20 million. Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s new head coach, has been using Maatsen in a different role as a winger during training, adding versatility to his game. However, with tough competition at left-back, including Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, and Lewis Hall, it remains to be seen how Maatsen’s future will unfold after the pre-season.
