Lukaku was given a start against Wolves by Thomas Tuchel, and the Belgian was outstanding, scoring a brace.
He was given another start against Leeds and scored as well.
Apart from the goal, Lukaku’s whole performance has substantially improved, which is something that every Chelsea supporter has been waiting for.
Lukaku’s movement was sharper against Leeds, and his control and linkup play made things smooth at the front. Kai Havertz had been the chosen striker since he could better link up with the forward players, but now that Lukaku can do the same, it’ll be a whole new era for him.
Expected Chelsea, a Twitter fan, perfectly described why Lukaku is performing better today.
“Tonight, Romelu Lukaku had 45 touches, his most since the game against Brighton in December,” he wrote. Only three games this season hath he had 40+ touches — today, against Brighton, and against Arsenal. In all three games, I scored.”
45 touches for Romelu Lukaku tonight, his highest since the game against Brighton in December.
He has had 40+ touches in only three games this season – tonight, against Brighton and against Arsenal. Scored in all three games.
