It appears that there is growing speculation about Eden Hazard’s potential retirement from professional football. The former Chelsea and Belgium national team star is currently without a club for the current season, and there have been no significant recent links to any clubs, including in the Saudi Pro League, as the transfer window in that league is closing soon.
As a free agent, Hazard has the flexibility to sign with any club at any time, but it’s worth noting that most clubs have already sorted out their main roster priorities at this point in the calendar. However, the Turkish transfer window remains open for another nine days, which leaves open the possibility of a late move.
Hazard retired from international football in December, following Belgium’s elimination from the World Cup. In a preview of a docu-series titled ‘Believe,’ which covers the Belgian national team, Hazard hinted at the idea of enjoying life with his family and friends, which could be interpreted as a sign that he is considering retiring from professional football.
Real Madrid, his last club, terminated his contract a season early, and Hazard’s casual appearance at Stamford Bridge for a season opener added to the speculation surrounding his future.
Chelsea, where Hazard enjoyed tremendous success, remains a special club for him. If he does indeed decide to retire, he leaves behind a legacy of accomplishments in the world of football.
