List released Four managers who could replace Graham Potter at Chelsea if Todd Boehly acts over poor form
Graham Potter is under increasing pressure at Chelsea despite only having taken over as manager in early September because the Blues have gone six games without a Premier League victory.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Graham Potter, the new manager of Chelsea, is beginning to feel the heat after his team’s third straight Premier League loss to Newcastle on Saturday. Chelsea hasn’t dropped three consecutive league games since 2015, but their lackluster performance at St. James’ Park allowed them to break that record.
The loss leaves the Chelsea faithful divided on who is to blame for the Blues’ dismal recent form and performances. The Blues will be eighth at Christmas when the Premier League is suspended for the World Cup, eight points behind Spurs in fourth and 16 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Although it is believed that their working relationship had already broken down before to Todd Boehly’s decision to quickly fire Thomas Tuchel after Chelsea entered some bad form, the American may do the same to Potter.
Having stated that, here are four candidates Chelsea might choose to replace Potter as manager:
Since Jose Mourinho and current Spurs manager Antonio Conte managed in north London after achieving success at Stamford Bridge, there is no reason why this appointment for Chelsea couldn’t go the other way. However, many Spurs fans may feel uneasy about it.
Pochettino hasn’t been in charge since PSG fired him in the summer of 2022. After Mourinho left, he was extensively linked with a return to Spurs, and just a few months after, Nuno Espirito Santo was fired by the team.
Although they ultimately came up short in crucial situations, losing to Liverpool in the Champions League final in his final season, the Argentine built a fantastic squad at Tottenham over the course of his five years at the club. However, he could undoubtedly be an exciting appointment for Chelsea given his extensive Premier League experience.
Robert Rodgers
If Chelsea were to fire Potter, they might want to refrain from going for another Premier League manager, although Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Leicester, might be an exception.
The former Liverpool manager has become Leicester one of the best teams to challenge for trophies and European competition each season. The Foxes have missed out on Champions League eligibility on the final day in back-to-back seasons, but they will win the FA Cup in 2021.
With Leicester languishing at the bottom of the league, there were loud calls for Rodgers to be fired throughout the most recent international break. However, the Northern Irishman was able to turn their fortunes around quickly, which is something that is urgently needed at Stamford Bridge.
Deschamps, Didier
Didier Deschamps, who earlier this year completed more than ten years as the manager of the French National team, might be persuaded to return to club management by a position opening at Chelsea, a side he played for a season.
Deschamps won the 2018 World Cup with France, the most coveted award in world football, and he will undoubtedly try to keep France’s title as World Champions before he leaves.
If things go as planned, Deschamps would be available at the start of 2023, though he may take a break after 10 years in the same position. Zinedine Zidane is apparently interested in the France job, and while he may be a choice for Todd Boehly, his heart seems set on that role.
Toby Amorim
Even if it would be a little risk, Chelsea supporters might not be overly receptive to the thought of Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim joining the team, even though it would be an exciting and lavish choice.
Amorim has been with the Portuguese team for two years; during his first full season there, he led the team to the local championship before leading them to second place the following year.
Many people have criticized Potter’s behavior on the sidelines, but Amorim, who lives and breathes every move his team makes and was so absorbed in Sporting’s Champions League game against Spurs last month, would have no such complaints.
