After a rocky start to life at Stamford Bridge, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has yet to score in either of his two outings for Chelsea.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!“Aubameyang is a blue, just like London,” Chelsea fans could assume. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added his name to the list of former Arsenal players who have ended up to Stamford Bridge this summer and has made his allegiances abundantly apparent.
After less than nine months as a Gunner, Gabon striker is now a blue. The difficult transfer from Barcelona to London was difficult, and Thomas Tuchel’s sacking only hours after Aubameyang’s debut sparked concerns about why the striker had signed, but the striker will still be a crucial part under Graham Potter.
Aubameyang has started both of the matches for which he has been available since joining Chelsea, but it has been an unusual start for him.
He was bright against Dinamo Zagreb but faded as the rest of his squad waned, and he was largely ineffective against Salzburg. He is working his way back to fitness, after being threatened and physically assaulted at his house before leaving Barcelona.
For new boss Potter, Aubameyang is the senior striker in a club that struggles to score goals, and that alone makes him an important player. Even with Armando Broja on his tail, Aubameyang and his confident demeanour will be expecting to return after the international break, which he is spending at Cobham, ready to serve his new squad and management.
Chelsea supporters are understandably apprehensive about the trade thus far; if it made sense, whether it still makes sense, and what Aubameyang can provide their team. They have now had a taste of the enthusiasm that the forward can offer.
In an Instagram video, Aubameyang can be seen dancing while donning his own Chelsea away jersey, glasses, and a cap, surrounded by members of his family who are all dressed in the white away shirt.
Although Arsenal are now top of the league and playing far more comfortably and consistently than Chelsea, having a former captain express his appreciation for his new club is a tiny victory as the team prepares for an international break.
