David Ornstein just revealed one of the most shocking stories of the summer, declaring that Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s owner, met Jorge Mendes, a super agent from Portugal.
They had many discussions, but none was more important than the possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo would visit Chelsea.
The 37-year-old returned to Manchester United last season to much fanfare but, despite scoring many goals, was unable stop the club’s slide back into mediocrity.
Ornstein insists that it is not clear if Chelsea will pursue the links. This probably means that there is nothing to it but it’s still a tempting possibility.
🚨 EXCL: Todd Boehly met Jorge Mendes in Portugal last week. Idea of Cristiano Ronaldo to Chelsea among subjects discussed. Unclear if #CFC will pursue. Man Utd expect him to stay. 37yo loves #MUFC but has concerns. With @dansheldonsport for @TheAthleticUK https://t.co/pHXelZAIIb

Ronaldo is reported to be unhappy with the lack of transfer activity at Manchester United. One can only imagine that he would have similar concerns if he was at Chelsea.
He is on a huge salary and it would be expensive to buy from Man U. It’s difficult to imagine it happening, but who knows what Mendes clients might be on the move?
