Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea’s Senegalese striker, seems to have given his endorsement for the club’s pursuit of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen. As Chelsea searches for a new striker this summer, they have faced rejections for bids on Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion.

Now, Chelsea is linked with a high-profile move for the highly sought-after Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen. Reports suggest that Romelu Lukaku could be part of the deal as leverage. According to The Athletic, Lukaku might reunite with former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte in a permanent transfer, while negotiations for Osimhen involve a loan deal with an option to buy. Lukaku thrived under Conte at Inter Milan, scoring 34 and 30 goals in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, respectively.
Osimhen’s Impressive Record
Osimhen’s future at Napoli remains uncertain, with Chelsea reportedly in talks to bring the prolific striker to Stamford Bridge. Since joining Napoli from Lille in July 2020, Osimhen has netted an impressive 76 goals in 133 appearances.
Agent’s Denial
Despite the rumors, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has vehemently denied the reports. He tweeted, “I read about ‘fantasy exchanges’ with Victor… as if he was a package to be delivered quickly. This package is the top scorer of the third Scudetto in the history of Napoli. Respect and stop fake news!”
Jackson’s Enthusiasm
Nonetheless, Jackson appears enthusiastic about the prospect of teaming up with Osimhen. He liked an Instagram post linking Chelsea with a move for Osimhen, indicating his approval of the transfer. If Osimhen joins, it would create healthy competition for Jackson up front. Last season, Jackson scored 17 goals in 44 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and is looking to build on that under new manager Enzo Maresca.
