Chelsea fought hard to secure a valuable point in their last Premier League game before the international break, drawing 1-1 with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Despite going behind, the Blues rallied to level the game, keeping them above their London rivals in the league standings for now.
Several Chelsea players delivered standout performances, with Wesley Fofana feeling it was his best showing since joining the team. Meanwhile, with Cole Palmer having a relatively quiet day, Pedro Neto stepped up to take on more attacking responsibility. Neto, who scored a stunning goal to pull Chelsea back into the match, was a constant threat, especially after switching to the right wing in the second half. Micah Richards commented on Neto’s performance, suggesting he is more effective on the right side. Speaking on The Rest is Football, Richards said, “He’s better on the right than the left, isn’t he?… I just prefer him on the right because he can play both ways. Going inside onto his left foot, I think it just favours him and the team.”
Neto’s impressive goal and versatility could put Noni Madueke’s place in the starting lineup in jeopardy. Madueke, who has recently struggled to make an impact, may find himself on the bench after the international break. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will also be hoping to have Jadon Sancho available again as he recovers from illness and injury, which would add even more depth to Chelsea’s attack as they look to climb higher in the Premier League.
