Mustafa ElHaddaoui, a former Moroccan midfielder, has urged fellow countryman Hakim Ziyech to switch to Manchester United in January from Chelsea.
Since moving to Stamford Bridge for £33 million from Ajax in the summer of 2020, Ziyech has generally disappointed.
The 29-year-old only started one Premier League game this season before the mid-season break for the World Cup, despite making 92 appearances for Chelsea and scoring 14 goals in that time.
Ziyech, despite his difficulties at Chelsea, has been one of the World Cup’s biggest performers after helping Morocco advance past favourites Spain and Belgium to the quarterfinals.
Ziyech is anticipated to leave Chelsea in January due to his lack of playing time there, and a transfer to Serie A team AC Milan has been strongly rumoured.
El Haddaoui thinks Ziyech should seek out a position at Manchester United so he may work with Ten Hag again, his old Ajax manager.
El Haddaoui stated to Corriere dello Sport and Stats Perform that “now we are witnessing Hakim’s potential, we can see what he is capable of. He is very valuable.
“Erik ten Hag, the former manager of Ajax, wanted him, thus he needed to leave Chelsea and join Manchester United. He needs to depart Chelsea during the winter transfer market, but he will recover.
