Reflecting on his initial stint with Chelsea, Cucurella admitted, “I was not satisfied with my first season, but I can learn a lot, especially in the tough moments. Before I came here, I had always played and played well, never had any problems. But when I came here I wasn’t playing at my level. I was a little frustrated, and I can learn from it.”
The left-back emphasizes the importance of mental well-being in his improved performance this season, stating, “I think this season is better. I feel good mentally, and I think that’s one of the most important things. If you feel good in life and feel good mentally, I think you play better.”
Cucurella also shared insights into his experience working with Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, describing him as a coach who appreciates hard work. He expressed his alignment with Pochettino’s coaching philosophy and the ongoing process of building a new project at the club, acknowledging the challenges of integrating many new players. However, Cucurella is optimistic about the team’s progress, stating, “If we continue like this and don’t stop working hard, I think we can.”
